Major Uses — Herbicides

What is in this document?

The official list of approved uses for herbicides registered under the Insecticides Act, 1968, published by the Central Insecticides Board & Registration Committee (Directorate of Plant Protection, Quarantine & Storage), updated up to 31.03.2026. For each product it gives the crop; the common name of the weed; dose per hectare (active ingredient and formulation); dilution in water; and the waiting period between the last application and harvest.

How it is used

  • Label claims: a product may only be recommended for the crop and weed combinations approved for it. Anything beyond the listed uses needs a label expansion with supporting data.
  • Me-too registration: under Section 9(4), the approved uses of the already-registered product are the reference point for a new registrant's label.
  • Dose and waiting period: the dose per hectare and the waiting period before harvest are what growers, exporters and residue monitoring rely on.
Source and date: CIB&RC, Faridabad, as on 31.03.2026. The list is updated periodically as new uses are approved, so check for a later edition before relying on any entry.
