Do I need a consultant in Indore to register with CIB&RC?
No. CIB&RC is a central authority and registrations are filed centrally through the CROP portal, so your consultant need not be located in Indore. Which registration route applies to my product?
It depends on whether the same insecticide is already registered in India. If it is, Section 9(4) me-too registration is usually available and is far quicker and cheaper. If not, Section 9(3) applies with a full data package. Establishing this is the first analysis worth doing.
Has anything changed recently for importers?
Yes. The Insecticides Third (Amendment) Rules, 2026, notified by G.S.R. 597(E) dated 8 July 2026, replaced the non-insecticidal import permit process. Applications are now made in Form IA with a fee of Rs. 5,000, disposal is preferably within 45 days, and permits run for one year, or three years where you hold a registration for the pesticide using the material as raw material.
