Insights from the 465th RC Meeting

The 465th Registration Committee (RC) meeting, held on 10th July 2025, delivered significant updates for India’s agrochemical and biopesticide sector. With multiple approvals across TI, FI, TIM, FIM, as well as biopesticides, label expansions, and shelf-life regularizations, this meeting highlighted the regulatory momentum driving the industry forward.


🔹 Chemical Cases under 9(3) TIM & FIM

A total of 13 applications were approved under 9(3) TIM & FIM. These included a mix of herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides targeted at major crops.

Notable approvals:

  • Pyroxasulfone + Diclosulam WG (PI Industries Ltd.) → approved for soybean and sugarcane weeds.
  • Flonicamid + Spirotetramat SC (Crystal Crop Protection Ltd.) → approved for cotton pests like whitefly, aphids, jassids, and thrips.
  • Clothianidin + Chlorantraniliprole WG (Crystal Crop Protection Ltd.) → approved for rice stem borer.
  • Fluindapyr + Flutriafol SC (FMC India Pvt. Ltd.) → approved for rice, chilli, cucumber, and tomato diseases.

These approvals will provide farmers with new, broad-spectrum solutions to tackle pest and disease pressure in critical cropsJuly 2025.


🔹 Chemical Cases under 9(3) TI & FI

The committee also cleared 6 applications under TI & FI.

Key highlights:

  • Imazapyr & Imazapic (BASF India Ltd.) → approved for direct-seeded rice and herbicide-tolerant mustard.
  • Cyclobutrifluram FS (Syngenta India Ltd.) → approved for nematode management in okra, tomato, cucumber, and banana.
  • Bistrifluron bait (Sumitomo Chemicals India Ltd.) → approved for household termite control.

These approvals reinforce the role of technical imports in diversifying the Indian agrochemical marketJuly 2025.


🔹 Chemical Cases under 9(4) TI & FI

A total of 14 approvals were granted under 9(4) TI & FI, covering technical imports of major molecules such as Azoxystrobin, Glyphosate, Imidacloprid, Cartap Hydrochloride, Paraquat Dichloride, Abamectin, Pretilachlor, and Fipronil.

This underscores India’s continued reliance on global suppliers for critical active ingredients, while ensuring quality standards and regulatory complianceJuly 2025.


🔹 Biopesticide Approvals

Biopesticides once again received a strong nod, with 63 applications reviewed. Out of these, 58 were approved and only 5 rejected, reflecting high dossier quality.

Most approvals came from well-known biological agents:

  • Trichoderma harzianum, Trichoderma viride
  • Pseudomonas fluorescens
  • Beauveria bassiana
  • Paecilomyces lilacinus

This trend highlights the growing confidence in eco-friendly pest management tools and the government’s push for sustainable agricultureJuly 2025.


🔹 Chemical Cases under 9(4) TIM

The committee reviewed 96 applications under TIM, of which 28 were approved.

Key molecules approved included Difenoconazole, Cyazofamid, Tolfenpyrad, Pymetrozine, Tembotrione, Thifluzamide, Boscalid, Fipronil, Diflubenzuron, Indoxacarb, and Beta-cyfluthrin.

This shows continued emphasis on domestic technical manufacturing, strengthening India’s self-reliance in the agrochemical sectorJuly 2025.


🔹 Chemical Cases under 9(4) FIM

The meeting cleared a massive 1,345 FIM applications. From these, the most frequently registered products were:

  • Tembotrione 34.4% SC (22 registrations)
  • Chlorantraniliprole 18.5% SC (21 registrations)
  • Tolfenpyrad 15% EC (19 registrations)
  • Emamectin Benzoate 5% SG (15 registrations)
  • Nitrobenzene 20% EW (15 registrations)

On the company side, ZEEYA Crop Science LLP, ZAKHI Crop Science, and Gilehri Organics emerged as top performers, with the highest number of unique product registrationsJuly 2025.


🔹 Label Expansion & Shelf Life

A total of 15 applications were approved for label expansion and shelf-life regularization.

Highlights include:

  • Kasugamycin 3% SL (Biostadt India Ltd.) → label expansion for potato early blight.
  • Cyclanilide + Mepiquat chloride SC (Bayer CropScience Ltd.) → plant growth regulator expansion for soybean and groundnut.
  • Drone use approvals:
    • Cartap hydrochloride (UPL Ltd.) for rice.
    • Emamectin + Lufenuron WG (Syngenta India Ltd.) for chilli.
    • Cyclaniliprole DC (ISK Biosciences India Ltd.) for multiple crops including soybean, maize, and sugarcane.
  • Shelf life regularizations granted for Acephate, Acetamiprid, Dinotefuran, Fomesafen, Cyantraniliprole, Bifenazate, and more.

These updates signal growing emphasis on drone technology integration and product lifecycle management in India’s agrochemical industry
